ABOUT THE BLOG AND THE WOMAN BEHIND IT

Tasha Dick

Being a wife and a mom with a part-time job, I have discovered how important it is to have "me time."  When my hubby finally convinces me to stop working or doing chores, I usually end up at a thrift store for hours searching for the perfect treasure or working on a home project.  Rufus & Henrietta is an outlet to share my love of making a house a home without breaking the bank.  After living in our house for three years and two kids later, I am beyond ready to make this place our home.  I dream of barefoot kids running through the living room on the way to the backyard, friends helping themselves in the kitchen, and a place to relax with the hubster after a long day.  I'm all about an open door policy.

The name Rufus & Henrietta comes from my obsession with naming inanimate objects.  (Seriously, I may have a problem.  Does anyone else name every car they own?)  Rufus was our lion door knocker at our first rental house and Henrietta is what I named our cute metal owl doorstop.  They both serve as greeters at the front door and remind me of home.

I am so blessed to have such an encouraging and helpful husband.  He is patient and kind but is not afraid to kick me in the rear when I need some pushing.  He is talented and creative and an awesome dad.  I would choose no one else to wake up to in the morning, to dance with in the kitchen, or to share beers with after the kids are down.  He is my one and only.

Our two kids bring us so much joy.  Being a mother has been a reality check and I mean that in the best of ways.  It brought me to realize responsibility and priorities in life.  (What in the world did we do before kids?)  It has also taught me to loosen up and enjoy even the smallest of precious moments.  These kids make me laugh every day and bring so much life to our house.

Most of all, we are blessed to have faith in our Savior.  We strive to have a Christ-centered marriage and household, letting nothing else take precedence.  If nothing else sticks with our kids, I will be the happiest girl in the world.

Thanks for stopping by our little neck of the.... internet!  I love hearing your comments and learning about your own experiences.  I feel like we're all in this together and the more we share and encourage, the more we grow.  So kick off your shoes, grab some coffee, and browse around!
